WATER OF LEITH SPONSORED WALK
Calling all ramblers, dog walkers, wildlife spotters and those looking for a good day out. Here is the opportunity of the year.
The annual Cyrenians Good Food Programme sponsored walk is coming up again on: Saturday 21st April 2012.
This is a great day out on one of the most beautiful walks in Edinburgh.
Starting at Balerno take the scenic route through the countryside areas outside Currie and Baberton, through the lovely Colington Dell down to Longstone Visitors Centre. The centre boosts a great display of wildlife and history of the river, not to mention the lunch provided by the Good Food team.
The walk continues through the City of Edinburgh, past the Murrayfield stadium, through Dean village, Stockbridge, Canonmills and down to Leith to finish at the Good Food depot. On this journey you get views of Edinburgh unobtainable from all other routes.
So get your walking boots on and join us. Refreshments will be provided along the route, life guards will not!

COOKING CLASSES FEEDBACK
"I am a support worker from Lochend.
I just wanted to say Thank You for all your help and patience with having one of our residents at your cooking classes recently.
Those cooking classes brought such a positive effect in his life and he is so proud of a certificate received in the end of the course.
Once again, many thanks for your good work and making those important and positive changes in peoples lives."

Little John Grows Up!
When John (also renamed 'Baby Johnny' by our EVS volunteers) walked into
the depot to drive refrigerated vans, he wasn’t expecting to get a
full-time placement with us and then become a super multi-tasking
volunteer. He didn’t know he would become able to deliver and pick up
food as well as sort good food out from mouldy. Nor did he know he would
one day be able to make phone calls to food donors in a very
professional manner and enter items on a computer database. He didn’t
have the slightest idea that he would have fed himself with something
other than jam doughnuts. Moreover, he wouldn’t have believed anyone
saying that one day he would even cook something and see other
volunteers queuing to get a portion of what he had made, because “John’s
a good cook!” But that day has finally come. After taking part in an
8-week cookery course, John has graduated!
