When John (also renamed 'Baby Johnny' by our EVS volunteers) walked into the depot to drive refrigerated vans, he wasn’t expecting to get a full-time placement with us and then become a super multi-tasking volunteer. He didn’t know he would become able to deliver and pick up food as well as sort good food out from mouldy. Nor did he know he would one day be able to make phone calls to food donors in a very professional manner and enter items on a computer database. He didn’t have the slightest idea that he would have fed himself with something other than jam doughnuts. Moreover, he wouldn’t have believed anyone saying that one day he would even cook something and see other volunteers queuing to get a portion of what he had made, because “John’s a good cook!” But that day has finally come. After taking part in an 8-week cookery course, John has graduated!
