REHIS (Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland) COURSES
• Elementary Food Hygiene
This full day course is increasingly becoming a requirement for those working in catering or the provision of meals. The course covers basic bacteria, food poisoning, personal hygiene, working environment, cleaning practices, pest control and basic legislation. Courses held monthly.
REHIS Certificate issued on successful completion of test (certificate good for 3 - 5 years)
• Introduction to Food Hygiene
This 2 ½ hour course is for those who may not want to sit the full day course and is often a good starting point for service users interested in becoming involved in catering.
REHIS Certificate of Attendance
• Refresher Hygiene
This half day course (4 hours) is for those who already have the full certificate but need it renewed (after 3 - 5 years). Successful completion of workbook based assessment to gain a new REHIS Certificate.
• Elementary Food and Health
This full day course covers basic nutrition, the relationship between diet and health and provides information on making healthy food choices for a variety of different needs in order to improve food provision.

• Food and Health for Carers of Adults with a Learning Disability
This two day course is aimed at people who care for adults with a learning disability. It is based on the existing Food and Health course but the course resources have been tailored to support the needs of this particular group of people.

• Good Food Good Health Joint Award
An important addition to our training courses is our newly developed and accredited REHIS / Cyrenians Good Food Good Health Joint Award.
This comprehensive course, specifically tailored for those supporting people from vulnerable groups, is taught over two days followed by eight 2 hour practical cooking sessions. Participants will gain an understanding in basic nutrition and food budgeting as well as develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to deliver practical in-house cooking classes to those they work with.
